SkyEurope Airlines will close Vienna - Prague - Vienna flights on 06.01.2008. However a few new routes for summer 2008 were announced. The brand new destinations from Prague are Malaga, Varna and Zadar, with Burgas, Catania, Dubrovnik, Split and Thessaloniki renewed after a succesful summer season last year.

The twelve millionth passenger checked-in within one single year passed the gates at the Prague Airport for the first time in history on 13.12.2007. This record-high number of passengers reflects the overall trends of the expansion of air travels. At the end of November, the number of passengers who have travelled via the Prague Airport increased by 7.3per-cent as against the same period last year and their number is expected close to 12.5 million by the end of the year.

Beechcraft C90 D-IBDH crashed near Ukrainian airport Zhulyany today late in the afternoon, all five on board died. The aircraft owned by Czech company Minib was operated by Fun Air. The Beechcraft was delivered to the Czech Republic only recently, expected to be OK- registered next year. The plane was on a business flight from Hradec Kralove.

CSA Czech Airlines are terminating their long-haul flights to Toronto and Montreal after January 17th. CSA might still offer a series of charter flights to Canada in summer. Aero Vodochody a.s. has delivered four L-159 advanced training aircraft, version T1, to the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic today. The four L-159T1 advanced trainers will enable to reach up to 32,000 flight hours and train up to 210 military pilots, with a service life extension included. They will join their single-seat L-159 counterparts in service with the 21st Tactical Air Force Base in Caslav.
